Much more difficult than the 1st Ben 10 PS2 game but better than the 2nd one June 26, 2010 AlexJouJou (California) This game is much more difficult than the first Ben 10 Protector of the Earth. The platforming skills are more complicated and require more precision timing. That makes this less than ideal for the younger Ben 10 fans or for older fans like my son that are on the autism spectrum who have difficulty coordinating fine motor skills with visual clues as well as normal kids. If your kid is normal, a little older, and does not have special needs like this the game is actually quite good.
For us though I'm rating it based on how my son does. He's 10 and is autistic (high functioning in some areas). However with processing struggles (takes a bit longer to get from brain to hand) this game becomes exceptionally difficult as it does require very fast reflexes and timing. This leads to incredible frustration. My son broke a controller on this game (for us yep it was that bad) The first game did as well but not to this level. The second game for us was a complete bust and I traded it in long ago.
The pros are that the graphics are quite excellent for a PS2 title, the sound effects are pretty good, the number of aliens is great and the storyline (to where we've gotten) is interesting. I mean keep in mind I hold all this up to a somewhat different standard (licensed video game - which typically you should have very low standards for!). The three stars are due to this and the fact my daughter had to help out all the time and said the game was difficult but not impossible for her. She is very very good at platformers having been raised on ones like Mario which are notoriously difficult (I mean the older versions that are really tough). So overall 3 stars. For my daughter 4 stars and for my son 1 star...I rounded up.
should have been 2 or more players for my sons to both play February 14, 2010 Manuel Almodovar (California, USA) The Ben 10 games are cool for my sons to play, but this one was only one player and that sucks for me because I have to deal with them fighting over who plays first or when to switch turns. Game is good and fun but should have been like its predecessors and have been up to four players or at least 2 player.
If you're a fan, it's decent. January 31, 2010 Semy T. Abrigana (USA) Got this game for my little brother who's really into Ben 10. It's a pretty decent game, some platforming, some puzzle solving might be a bit tough for the younger ones. As for the boss battle, they're a real PAIN. There's also no more 2 player co-op like in the other 2 games, which is a shame. So as long as your kid can beat a pretty hard boss and do some light puzzle solving, this should be a great buy for any Ben 10 fan.
BEN 10 VILGAX ATTACKS January 30, 2010 Jill M. Carter (PLEASANT HILL, NC) MY SON LOVES THIS GAME. HE SAYS IT IS VERY FUN AND PRETTY EASY TO PLAY. HE IS A BIG BEN 10 FAN AND RECOMMENDS THIS GAME.
Pretty good for my 6 year old son. January 14, 2010 Ronald Evan Mitchell (SLC) Most games based on movies and TV shows suck. This one is better than most.
