Saturday night, 6/27/10, I was out fishing with my buddy, and I was wearing the everyready 3-led headlight. To make a long story short, we were in the Long Beach Harbor, and as we went across a channel opening, we got hit by a big wave, and capsized. I jumped in cannonball-style, but didn't go under. The lamp, which was on, stayed on my head, and when we swam over to the now upside-down boat, and hung onto it for dear life, I had my buddy, who was prone on the hull of my little 13 foot aluminum skiff, waving the headlamp at a tugboat that was coming out to escort a freighter into the harbor. We were able to get their attention, and after 25 minutes of hanging off the boat in icy Pacific waters, we were pulled aboard a Long Beach Lifeguard boat. If I hadn't been wearing the headlamp, I doubt we could have gotten their attention, as it was about Midnight. I'm quite humbled by the fact that this headlamp was bright enough to catch the attention of a tugboat captain at about 100 yards. I'm getting the headlamp a fresh set of batteries for my new birthday, cause I woulda been a goner without it.

I bought this headlamp over 5 years ago before I deployed to Afghanistan. This rugged, efficient light probably got used 1-2 hours a night (almost always in Red light mode) for 16 months without any issues. I happened to lose my headlamp a couple years ago and I foolishly bought a PETZL which broke within 6 months of use. Luckily I found my Energizer headlamp again and I've been using it ever since. Its already got a spot in my bag as I head out for my third tour soon. This little piece of equipment really delivers.

I use this light for increasing illumination in a dark space, like inside a chainsaw fuel tank or down an herbicide applicator tube. I also use it for predawn work either to briefly light an area or to keep a light on an area I am weeding. The white light is nice and bright. Ability to use standard rechargeable batteries is good and the red light is useful when I don't want to attract too much attention. A top of the head strap would keep it from slipping and make it 5 stars but a light with a top of the head strap wasn't in the budget.

Super fast shipping, from CA to MI in 3 days at no charge. The package was a little beat up when it got here almost looked like it had been opened or it was water damage but the product itself was in fine shape. It is quite small and the lamp button is a little flimsy looking and kinda shakes around but i would think as long as you don't treat it like crap it should function just fine for what it does. All the features works comes with a case and batteries. white led's are VERY bright the night vision red is quite nice. All around i am looking very forward to taking this out on the dunes camping in a couple weeks here.

Much better than the other options out there from Petzl and other dedicated outdoor manufacturers. It's amazing that those other companies can't compete with this little cheap light, and try to pass off less durable, less functional lights for more than 2x the price. The swivel works great and doesn't flop around. Red light is the best addition, works well as a battery saver and to read maps in a car. Water resistant too. I have 4 of these in cars, packs, and on the bike. Runs a long time. It's not blindingly bright, if I need that I have a 190 lumen flashlight. The switch does very occasionally pop on, but it's not a big deal as lots of other lights do it too, but to make it perfect the switch could be a bit stiffer.
